Val McCallum

Val McCallum, a sought after and versatile guitarist, has worked with many artists including Natalie Merchant, Peter Gabriel, Seal, Sheryl Crow, Joan Osborne and Tim McGraw. He is also a regular fixture in Vonda Shepard's band (who's music regularly appears on the Ally McBeal show).

In late 1999, a mutual interest in older style country music lead Val to join up with fellow Vonda Shepard bandmate Davey Faragher and former Attraction (Elvis Costello's band) Pete Thomas to form "Jack Shit". The band quickly gained a dedicated following in the LA club circuit. Jack Shit released an album in 2001 of their favorite songs, originally recorded by artists such as The Flying Burrito Brothers, Johnny Horton, Johnny Cash, and others.

In 2001 Val McCallum played guitar on The Wallflowers cover of "I'm Looking Through You" for the "I am Sam" Soundtrack. Currently he's in the studio again with the Wallflowers providing some guitar work for their fourth album.

Jack Shit's self-titled album is available through Grindstone Magazine's website.
