David Bowie
David Jones became David Bowie in the late 60's so he wouldn't become confused with "Davey Jones" of the Monkees. His first record under the name Bowie "Love you Till Tuesday" was released in 1967, and from there he went on to release "David Bowie" (1967) and "Space Oddity" in 1969 followed by "The Man who sold the World (1970) and Hunky Dory (1971). But it was when "Ziggy Stardust" emerged with 1971's release "Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars" that David's avant guard style of "glam rock" gained exposure and his music started to get the attention it deserved. For the next few years, Bowie invented a new character for each of his LP releases. David's discography includes over 40 studio recordings and he's worked with many artists including John Lennon, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed and Mott the Hoople.
His interest in art and theatrics brought him to acting the acting world and he's appeared in movies such as "The Man Who Fell to Earth" and "The Hunger". In 1998 The Wallflowers recorded one of Bowie's songs "Heroes" for the Gozilla movie soundtrack.
