Jakob Dylan is one of those rare artists who as the son of arguably the most famous musician alive, Bob Dylan, has taken his time to find his own identity. While this is in and of itself a good career move, the way he did it borders on ingenious. It’s hard enough to make a name for yourself in this business, and some people thought that Jakob was going about it the wrong way by “hiding behind a band.” But by fronting his band for as long as he did he was able to focus on his skills without being the sole member in the spotlight. His band was his buffer zone if you will between him crafting his art and the media.

It is obvious to everyone who listens to his music that he has come into his own. It is only natural therefor that he goes out on his own. All in all, Jakob Dylan played it very well.
