Well it Smells of Cheap Wine & Cigarettes
The Wallflowers are most famous for their single, “One Headlight” which rose to the top of American and European charts in 1998. Yet the Wallflowers were a formed alternative rock band long before this hit single. They started in 1989 in Los Angeles with the band named ‘The Apples’, the front man Jakob Dylan has been a permanent fixture of this band from the start. While Jakob Dylan is the son of a great legend, his music tends to follow more of the late California vibe rather than the 60s vibe.
While the band may have changed its members over the years, they have won two Grammys and have been featured in numerous documentaries. They have played with well known artists such as Bruce Springsteen and Carole King. Their tours, while few in between, are often sold out.
The Wallflowers have released five albums, along with a two-disc album that covers their greatest hits. Many of their songs have appeared on soundtracks such as ‘I am Sam’, ‘Six Degrees’, ‘NCIS’ and ‘Cold Case’. Recently Jakob Dylan has released his own solo album and has been featured in late night shows and magazines. He reports that the Wallflowers have not broken up and he plans to record a new album with the band in the future.
